Chobani
New Berlin, New York, U.S.

Chobani manufactures the US’ best-selling Greek yogurt brand and is the second-largest yogurt manufacturer in the US overall.

The company was founded in 2005 when Hamdi Ulukaya, a Turkish immigrant to the US, bought a plant in New Berlin, New York that was being closed by Kraft Foods. The business is still based in New Berlin to this day. Ulukaya hired several former Kraft employees as well as a ‘yogurt master’ and launched his brand in 2007, naming it roughly after the Turkish word for ‘shepherd’.

With a focus on community and people, the company has since been the success story of the decade and has proven to be one of the dairy industry’s biggest disruptors, with the financials to match. Its products are available in the US and Mexico, as well as Australia and countries throughout Asia and Latin America.
