Agropur
Longueuil, QC, Canada

Agropur is a Canadian dairy cooperative owned by its 3,200 dairy farmer members. The company derives value from its members’ milk through a branded portfolio that includes Natrel, Oka, Iögo and BiPro. It employs 8,800 people in Canada and the US, who are all engaged in contributing to the cooperative’s success by offering a wide range of dairy products and strong brands that satisfy the demands of both customers and consumers.

The cooperative began in the town of Granby, Quebec in 1938 when agronomist Alpha Mondou and farmer Omer Deslauriers, convinced that there was greater strength in unity, brought 87 local farmers together to form the Société coopérative agricole du canton de Granby – the cooperative that would become Agropur. They each invested about $50 of their savings and quickly decided to focus on the milk their members produced, expanding into other dairy categories over the coming decades.

Today Agropur is Canada’s largest dairy processing cooperative with annual sales of CAD 6.7 billion ($4.97 billion).
